2023-24 Season

U18 B1 Stingers - U18 B GHA House League Champions

April 7, 2024 - After getting off to a hot start, the U18B1 Stingers battled some adversity and overcame injuries to finish the regular season 2nd place in their respective division. Once the playoffs started, the team played with determination and battled their way into the finals.

And what a final it was! Down 1-0 late in the 2nd period against Metcalf, William McIntyre scored for the Stingers with just over 4 seconds left to tie up the game. Both teams pushed hard up until the final buzzer, but the goalies shut the door leading us into overtime.

If this wasn’t enough drama, a penalty shot was awarded to the Stingers! With the game on the line, and hundreds of people ready to capture the moment on camera, Ben Schecter stood at center ice. With a beautiful move he scored a goal for the ages!

Stingers win 2-1!

A legend in the making, a team of destiny, and now GHA Champions!

Midget A2 Stingers - West Nipissing Fall Classic Champions

November 18, 2018 - Congratulations to the Midget A2 Blackburn Stingers on their well-deserved victory in Sturgeon Falls and defending their title from last year’s tournament.

Even though the competition in the round robin was not overly challenging hockey wise the boys kept the pedal to the metal while playing with class and discipline. Every one of the boys brought their A game (pun intended) and it was very difficult to pick MVP's which is a great problem to have for Coaches. This is a great group of boys and it has been fun working with them so far and the Coaching staff is looking forward to the rest of the season.

2017-18 Season

Stingers Peewee A are GHA League Champions!!!

April 2018 – Building on a highly successful season, this hard-charging Blackburn Stingers Peewee A team finished 1st in its division, and powered through the playoffs to win the GHA League Championship in stunning style. In cementing a 5-4 comeback victory over Orleans in the final game, the Stingers’ Championship Team demonstrated greatness and resilience, and proved that success comes with a winning mindset. Prior to becoming crowned Champions, the Stingers persevered in highly competitive Round Robin playoffs. During the semi-finals, the Stingers imposed their will on Leitrim by outpacing, outplaying and outscoring the Hawks in a compelling 4-1 victory.

The Stingers’ combined season record of 32W – 5L – 2T with tournaments and playoffs, included winning the Championship at the Dukes Showdown, and being Finalists in Capital House League Championships. The team’s well-earned place in the BMHA Hall of Champions is directly attributable to a season-long commitment to conditioning, strong team play, hard work (and incrementally harder practices!), balanced contributions from all players and an unbreakable, positive attitude. “BEE-LIEVE!!!”

Congratulations to: (player top row, L-R) – Lorenzo, Brendon, Olivier, Jackson, Katie, Brady, Louis-Xavier; (player bottom row, L-R) – Nicholas, Mathieu, William, Isaiah, Justyn, Scott, Jayden;  Our amazing goalie: Deelaka (“DEEEEEE-Laa-kaa”!!); and protégé goalie, Logan.

Coaches: Andy (head coach, middle right); Marc and Phil, and trainer Alain.

This hard working Stingers team received praises from referees and opposing coaches alike for their commitment to hard work and clean play, fantastic goal-tending, strong D corps in both zone, and contributions from all forward lines in all areas of the rink.  Well done, Stingers, in representing the BMHA with class!!

Midget A Stingers' crowned Champions of the West Nipissing Fall Classic Tournament!

On November 19 2017 the Blackburn Stingers Midget A team were crowned Champions of the West Nipissing Fall Classic Tournament. The Stingers dominated their division in the round robin outscoring their opponents 16-1. The team was in a battle in the semifinals pulling out a last minute 3-2 win over KL Gold. With the Team Captain unable to play in the finals, everyone stepped up to defeat the East Nipissing Vipers 3-0. The most impressive part of this team was the discipline they displayed playing in a very physical tournament . This was a complete team effort from start to finish, playing a relentless style that wore down and frustrated every opponent they faced. Every player was dedicated to an all-around team game which made it very difficult for the coaching staff to single out one MVP.

Congratulations on a well-earned tournament victory!

Atom C Stingers' wins Silver in the Orleans Atom House League Tournament!

On November 12 2017 the Blackburn Stingers Atom C team won silver in the Orleans Atom House League Tournament. The team worked hard and played exciting hockey all throughout the tournament. Winning all but one of the round robin games by being bested by the undefeated Leitrim Hawks 2 team by 5 – 1.

Determined to put the loss behind them, the Stingers faced off against Leitrim again in the finals. A game the announcer called one of the most exciting evenly matched finals they've ever seen. The score was held at 0 - 0, with multiple chances for both teams to score that kept the spectators on the edge of their seats. Finally with only a few minutes left the Leitrim team scored taking the lead. The Stingers, not willing to give up, then pulled their goalie and put forth a fantastic effort that rewarded them with many scoring chances. As the clock ran out, Leitrim managed to escape their zone finally and score another goal on the empty net, winning the game 2 – 0. The Stingers would like to congratulate the Leitrim Hawks again for winning the championship and thank the Orleans Tournament staff and volunteers for putting on a great tournament.

Congratulations Atom C Stingers!

In the first game versus the KANATA HOUSE LEAGUE HEROES the Stingers were down 3-1 after two periods of play. However, the team rallied to even out the score in the third period to walk away with a tie which grew the team’s confidence.  In game two, facing the LAKESHORE TIGERS, they won the game with a score of 5-0. The team’s momentum kept building. The following day, they played their third round robin game against the SOUTH END CAPITALS and defeated them with a score of 7-0. This was enough to provide the Stingers first place overall and a Bye to the Semi Finals. The next opponent in the semifinals was the ORLEANS RUSH A2. At this point, The Stingers were like a freight train and came out on top with a 7-2 victory. The finals were against the ALMONTE THUNDER. The Thunder had only let in 3 goals in their 4 previous games of play while scoring 14 goals against their opponents. The Stingers were in for a challenge. The first period was a little worrisome for the Blackburn fans as Almonte scored the first goal of the contest. However, this would be proven to be their last as the boys took over and scored 5 unanswered goals to win the championship game with a final score of 5-1.

The success came from everyone playing very well and some excelling.  The Matt, Nick and Jaden line lead the way with tremendous efforts in every shift and scoring the lion’s share of the goals.  The Stingers came away from the tournament with 27 goals and only allowing 6 in 5 games.

A special thanks goes to the coaching staff and trainer for keeping the players focused and ready before, between and during the games.

Way to Go Stingers!!!
